Follow-up from "Add an overlapping instance allowing compiler"

The following discussion from !62 (merged) should be addressed: !62 (comment 113122)

• sed could be used instead of patch to avoid build failure
• Later, or alternatively, a compiler flag could be used to enable allowance of overlapping instances
• There is an unused $2 in the linux-x86 build script
